Jessica Sandoval, PhD

Nicknamed Dr. ROV, I am an ocean explorer who specializes in deep-sea exploration and engineering. I am the Director of Sensors and Systems for the Ocean Discovery League. We aim to increase the accessibility of deep-sea exploration to a broader, global audience. I am a pilot of Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) with which I help to investigate the mysteries of the deep ocean. My background in biomimetic design informs my work, as I draw inspiration from the fascinating creatures of our planet and apply their lessons to designing the next generation of robotics. In my spare time, I write children's books to inspire the next generation of explorers.
